NOT A Good Day Yesterday...

I ate loads of chocolate yesterday... and crisps... don't know why, I just had a craving for them. I was baaaad. I was going to run last night, but could only raise a waddling walk.

I have been to the gym today though and did a lot more work at 6mph on the treadmill then got up to 8mph for 30 secs! There were loads of new bods there, I suppose they should be applauded for taking responsibility for their health, but it's tough when you can't get on the equipment you need, especially as we are still down to 3 treadmills and 1 elliptical. Ah well, stop moaning!!!

My mate texted me whilst I was there, and when I told her where I was, she replied "You're so motivated!" Funny thing, motivation. I think it helps to build the exercise into your routine so that you are used to doing it. I'm not a saint, it would be so much easier to think 'I'm too busy to go to the gym' or 'I feel really tired, I need more sleep instead', but I know that if I don't make myself go, I will feel so bad and probably won't get much done anyway.

It is often tough to motivate myself to leave my warm house in an evening to pound the streets, especially when it's freezing! But I know that the hardest part is getting through the door. Once you have done that, the rest is easy. I often bargain with myself by saying, 'I'll just go out and do a little bit', and quite often find that once I am out there, I have a really good session. And I feel so much better about myself once I have done it.

After all, I can honestly say that I have never once regretted making the effort to go to the gym, or thought 'I wish I hadn't gone for that run'...
