Glorious Weather!

That big yellow thing is still in the sky and it is warm... can't believe that last week I was still using my hot water bottle!

I have been plodding on with the training, somewhat literally, visiting the gym more than once in 2 weeks and getting out for some walks after work and taking advantage of the warm weather. I walked to work Thursday, then went for a 3 mile walk/ jog with a colleague after work before walking back home, and have been out and about round Holme Pierrepont.

I have the Leaden Boot Challenge tomorrow and it looks like it is going to be hot, so good hydration will be the order of the day... must remember the sunscreen!

A Walk In The Sunshine- For A Change!

I have started training for me Peddar's Way/ Norfolk Coast Path attempt in July, and last week was week 2... it was rather scuppered, however, due to the fact that I woke up Tuesday, got out of bed and the room was spinning! I felt really dizzy and sick (which was quite unfair as I hadn't even had the pleasure of any alcohol the night before!)

It was an effort to get up and go to work (even more than usual!) and although the dizzyness went off, I haven't felt that great all week, so much of the training I planned to do went out of the window.

I did get out yesterday though- I woke up to see skies of blue and sun instead of the grey and falling rain we have come to take for normal, so I loaded up a light pack and headed out past Holme Pierrepont.

It was a typically lovely May day;

I pass a Nature Reserve and today I decided to go in to explore for the first time- it was quite nice and made additional half mile circuit;

I walked mostly, to save my foot as I hadn't done much in the week, but did have a few runs. I'm not so bothered about the running at the moment though, as my training for the Peddars Way/ NCP will involve long walks, leading up to back to back distances with a pack- much the same at the MdS. I am under no illusions that I am going to run much of it! It will more likely be a steady march.

I headed down across the A52 and then walked back along the canal;

As I approached Bassingfield, I notice a path cutting through the rape crop, so decided to have a little explore to see where it lead to...

...It only lead round the field, so I retraced my steps but got a little extra distance out of it at least...

Then back home along the canal after a stop at Morrisons, where it was consumerism gone crazy!!

The cygnets have hatched- we now have 6 little baby swans and baby coots in various stages of growth- I love the spring!

I'm Still Here!!

I feel as though I've gone MIA lately... partly because I haven't done any more events and partly because my left foot problem reared its ugly head again...

I went out for a walk at the beginning of last week- a little tiny slow 4 miler round Edwalton golf course- and on the way back I felt a sudden pain in my left foot- the area on the top of the instep which has hurt on some of the events I've done this year. It was quite painful for a few days, so I have been resting and building up slo-o-owly. I walked/ jogged round the Regatta Lake at Holme Pierrepont a couple of days ago and have also been to the gym and so far so good. I am going out again in a minute to give it another go.

I have decided not to do so many events at the moment as I am planning a solo walk in the summer. My mum has a caravan at Wells-Next-The-Sea, and I thought that while they still have it, it's a great opportunity for me to attempt the Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Paths. Done together (the Peddars Way joins the Norfolk Coast Path) they are around 98 miles. They are generally completed in around 8 days, but I am going to attempt it in five... brave or stupid!

The challenge is set for Tuesday 17th July to Saturday 21st July, so I am now officially in training! As long as the damn foot holds up that is...
