Another **** Setback!
In an effort to get back into the swing of things after a week long headache, I decided to go for a run last night.
Big mistake.
I set off down the road and my left knee started to twinge in exactly the same place it hurt on the last day of the MdS. Fine, I thought, I'll walk instead. So I did around 5 miles no problems... except for when I was nearly home and decided to run across the road.
It was agony! I staggered up the road, trying my best not to limp too obviously but every few steps I had to stop and try to stretch or massage my leg- I really thought I wasn't going to get home!
Then it just went off- it was really odd- I walked the rest of the way home no problems. I have been for a few short walks since, and have felt a slight twinge so there is obviously something wrong...
...Added to this the fact that I feel considerably below par again today so probably won't do anything today, and the two loops of the BRecons Ultra is looking more and more unlikely. B*gger!
I did have a nice encounter on my short walk the other night though- I was just leaving the houses of Netherfield behind when a badger started to walk across the road in front of me. He saw me and stopped. I stopped too and we just studied each other before he continued his way. I felt quite priveledged!

Dropped Off The Face Of The Earth???
Dog Sitting!
This week isn't going too great either- I ran 3 miles Monday but have had a headache for the past two days, which won't shift; typical really, it's bad enough to make me feel rough and not want to pound the streets or pump weights at Total Tone, but not bad enough to justify time off work... a few colleagues have had it so it's probably a virus. Which will hang around for ages.
Sigh.
Next week has GOT to be better...

I'm Still Alive!
Flapper Girl!!
I haven't updated for a while! Nothing really earth shattering has happened in my life, although the Augrabies has just finished, so huge congratulations to Al, Martin, Mimi, Matt, and anybody I may have missed. Fantastic result, this is one I'd love to do one day... so many things to do, so little time and money...
My training has been going steadyish but not earth shattering. I have had a training review, and my instructor has added some different cardio and weights to keep things interesting- intervals on the stationary bike, and some set interval training programmes.
Yesterday was quite interesting- I was invited to a wedding- but not just any ordinary wedding- a 1920's/ 30's themed wedding! I took the plunge and hired a long, black 'flapper' style dress complete with feather boa, pearls and feather head-dress, and the bride looked lovely in a handmade 1930's style dress. The ceremony was done by a lady vicar who was quite overcome with emotion a couple of times (or else she was trying to stop laughing at the sight of so many people in costume making tw*ts of themselves!!)
As we were having the photos taken, someone remarked that it would confuse the hell out of anybody researching the family tree in 200 years time!!
It was a fantastic day, and luckily the weather was gorgeous... suppose I'd better think about training again now though!

Rejection!!!
Still, at least I don't have the worry of getting to London, paying for accommodation, and of course the pressure of all that bl**dy training for the event.
Thought I might be coming down with something as I felt really knackered over the weekend, and started to get excited at the prospect of a few days in bed, doing nothing- but sadly it wasn't to be...
I have been a bit of a stranger at the gym lately, it's a wonder they still recognise me- although I did put in an appearance at Total Tone last night. It's getting so popular I can hardly find a space in my preferred location (right at the back!) and last night somebody nicked my spare weights so I was forced to use the heavier ones for all the arm workouts!
I am working my way up to going to the gym tonight...
