Nearly 40...
Mentally I feel no different from when I was 20 but physically I am probably about to fall to pieces! Time certainly has a habit of creeping up on you without you noticing.
I suppose it's normal to feel like this (is it??) and I should just take a look at all those folks who achieve great things well into their 60's and even 70's- I know that there are many of them.
For now, I am off to Center Parcs in Sherwood Forest with the family for a weekend of fun, relaxing and hopefully some swimming. Then it's time to forget about being 40 and concentrate on training for the Belvoir Challenge! Hope everyone else has a good weekend.

Getting A Bit Fed Up With It Now...
It's so cold and frosty out my motivation for anything more strenuous than sitting watching telly and eating my own bodyweight in chocolate just goes out of the window.
I did venture out for a walk on Saturday- we had quite a lot of snow overnight Friday so I grabbed my camera and took a few pretty snowy pics on my usual 7 miler round Stoke Bardolph and the Lagoons;
Pretty Snow Pictures...
The Lake Had Almost Completely Frozen Over
We did have a bit of a thaw Tuesday night, as it was wet, most of the snow and ice had gone so I took the opportunity for a run, dodging the worst bits- I'm a bit of a wimp and not too good at keeping my feet on dodgy terrain! Unfortunately it froze overnight and was absolutely lethal yesterday, we had to stay in the office all day at work- then to add insult to injury it snowed again!
I think it's gone now though so I may even be able to walk to the gym without fracturing something...
I have entered the Belvoir Challenge, which is to be my first event of the year, so better get up to covering 26 miles in a day again! I have also entered the Grindleford Gallop, which is a fun one to do.
I have also booked to see a nutritionist- I figure that some professional advice on what I should be eating whilst exercising won't go amiss as I guess chocolate's not an ideal fuel! Although I have to keep a food diary before I go- and be honest...

Snow!
Thank goodness for the Wii- I know it's not quite the same thing but at least it's training, and it's amazing how difficult it is to run on the spot for 20 minutes- quite knackers the calves!
I haven't had the courage to venture into the gym yet this week- I imagine it may well be packed to the rafters.
I'm hoping that I may get the chance to go for a walk this weekend as I haven't exactly set the world on fire yet with the new healthy eating and fitness regime! Hope everyone else is doing better...

Happy New Year!!! Here's To 2010!!
I went to a 1970's party last night hosted by my little sister's boyfriend's family- it was really good, lots of food, games and dancing- me and mum danced for ages, and when the Can Can came on all of us ladies got into a line and got straight into the leg kicking... only it went on for ages- I swear it was on a repeat loop- and we were all knackered by the end! good exercise though I suppose!
Me in 1970's Gear!
I slept on my sister's settee and woke up quite early (I usually do- getting older robsme of my ability to lie in). There was no sign of life from my sis and her boyfriend's room so I got up and drove to Beacon Hill, which is only just down the road from them. It was a gorgeously crisp, clear day;
Views From The Top Of Beacon Hill
It was quite busy- other folks obviously had the same idea. I followed the path down to the bottom car park and an alternative path back up- only about 3 miles but a lovely walk and a good start to the New Year.

I have also set my Wii Fit up and it's great- there are workouts for jogging on there and all kinds of balance and strength training workouts. I am going to try to commit to using it regularly to supplement the gym and running.
Right, goals for 2010- I suppose I had better set some so here we go...
1.) Lose weight and tone up- I have put on some weight since MdS and feel flabby, so my number one goal is to lose this and feel more toned
2.) I am not planning on major trips this year due to being skint, so am planning on doing lots of LDWA events- ones I have in mind (but may change) are;
Belvoir Challenge
Charnwood Marathon
Dave Lewis Challenge and Spires & Steeples in the SAME weekend
Ponton Plod
Waltham Winder (if it's on)
3.) I will also successfully complete the Bullock Smithy!
4.) I will participate in some road races, including the Robin Hood Marathon at a better time than last year.
Overall I am quite please with my progress last year- highlights were the MdS (of course!) and the Robin Hood Marathon. Lowlights were the lack of motivation following said MdS and susequent weight gain, plus living further away from the countryside.
Of course, this is the year I turn 40- f***!
Feel free to share your goals- here's to achieving them!
